I teach private violin lessons for children, teenagers and adults across London and Bedfordshire, as well as online. My lessons are tailored to each student, whether they are complete beginners or more advanced players working towards exams.

I teach in several areas across London and Bedfordshire, including St Albans, Rickmansworth, Harrow, Watford and Dunstable, as well as surrounding areas. I also offer online violin lessons, which allows me to work with students across the UK and internationally.

If you’re looking for lessons in a specific area, you can visit the relevant location page for more details.

Do you offer violin lessons in St Albans?

Yes, I teach violin lessons in St Albans and nearby areas. I work with complete beginners, adult learners and students preparing for ABRSM exams. Lessons are adapted to each person’s goals, whether that’s learning for enjoyment, building confidence or progressing through grades.

You can find more details on the St Albans page.

Do you teach violin lessons in Rickmansworth?

Yes, I teach students in Rickmansworth and the surrounding area. Lessons are suitable for all ages and levels, including adult beginners who are starting from scratch, as well as students working through ABRSM grades.

More information can be found on the Rickmansworth page.

Do you teach in Harrow or Watford?

Yes, I teach in Harrow and Watford depending on availability. I work with children, teenagers and adult beginners, as well as more advanced students looking to refine technique or prepare for exams.

Do you offer online violin lessons?

Yes, I offer online violin lessons for students across the UK and internationally. Online lessons are especially helpful for adult beginners or those with busy schedules, and they follow the same structured approach as in-person lessons. You can find more information here.

Do you teach adult beginners?

Yes, I specialise in teaching adult beginners as well as children. Many adults start violin later in life and progress very well with the right guidance. Lessons are designed to be clear, structured and enjoyable, with a focus on building confidence from the very beginning.

Adult beginners often enjoy learning at their own pace and working towards pieces they personally enjoy, while still developing strong technical foundations.

What age do you start teaching violin?

I usually start teaching children from around five or six years old, depending on readiness. I also teach teenagers and adults at all levels, including complete beginners with no previous musical experience.

How long is each lesson?

Lessons are usually sixty minutes depending on the student’s age, level and goals. Younger children tend to start with shorter lessons, while adult beginners and more advanced students often benefit from longer sessions.

Do you prepare students for ABRSM exams?

Yes, I prepare students for ABRSM violin exams if they choose to follow that path. This includes preparation for both practical exams and the technical requirements of each grade.

Some students prefer to follow the ABRSM structure as it gives clear milestones, while others prefer to learn without exams. Either approach is absolutely fine and depends on the student’s goals.

How long does it take to learn violin?

Progress depends on the student and how consistently they practise. Adult beginners can usually start playing simple melodies within a few months, while building strong technique and confidence develops over a longer period with regular lessons.

Do I need my own violin before starting?

Ideally yes, but if you don’t yet have an instrument I can advise on suitable options for renting or buying. Having the right violin is important for progress, especially in the early stages. My recommended music shops are listed here.
