Online Violin Lessons for Adults in the UK and Worldwide

Learn the violin online with individual tuition from an experienced violin teacher

I offer individual online violin lessons for adults across the UK and internationally, helping students learn the violin, return to an instrument they once loved, or develop their playing further.

Online violin lessons can be an excellent way to learn with the right teacher, wherever you are based. You may live in an area where it is difficult to find the right violin teacher locally, or you may simply want to learn with a teacher whose approach and experience feel right for you.

My online violin tuition is designed for adults who genuinely want to learn and are motivated to develop their playing. Whether you are a complete beginner, returning to the violin after many years, preparing for an ABRSM or Trinity examination, or simply learning for the love of music, lessons are tailored to your individual goals and experience.

For me, learning the violin is about much more than simply learning the notes. It is about discovering what you are capable of creating for yourself and, ultimately, becoming a musician.

Why Choose Online Violin Lessons?

Online violin lessons offer the opportunity to learn from the comfort of your own home without the need to travel to every lesson.

For adults with busy lives, online violin tuition can make it easier to maintain regular weekly lessons alongside work, family and other commitments. There is no journey to and from a music studio, and you can learn in a familiar environment with your own instrument.

Online lessons also mean that you are not limited to finding a violin teacher within a short travelling distance of where you live. You can choose a teacher based on their experience, teaching approach and the kind of musical guidance you are looking for.

I teach online violin students throughout the UK and internationally, allowing me to work with adults who may otherwise struggle to find the right teacher for them locally.

Online Violin Lessons That Go Beyond the Weekly Lesson

Learning the violin does not stop when the lesson ends.

The work you do between lessons is an important part of making progress, which is why I am also available on WhatsApp during the week for students who have questions while they are practising.

Sometimes you may be unsure about a particular technique, wonder whether you are practising something correctly, or simply need a little guidance before your next lesson.

Being able to ask a question during the week can help you practise with greater confidence and avoid developing habits that may hold you back.

My aim is to support your progress throughout the week, so that you have the guidance and encouragement you need to keep moving forward between lessons.

Why I Particularly Enjoy Teaching Adults

I particularly enjoy teaching adults because they often come to the violin with a genuine love of music and a strong personal reason for wanting to learn.

Perhaps you have always wanted to play the violin but never had the opportunity. Perhaps you played when you were younger and have always wanted to return to it. Or perhaps you are simply at a point in your life where you finally have the time and opportunity to learn an instrument for yourself.

Adults can sometimes be very hard on themselves when they first begin. Learning a new instrument can feel difficult at first, and it is easy to become frustrated when your hands do not immediately do what you want them to do.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching that change happen over time.

Week by week, a student begins to recognise their own progress. Something that once felt impossible starts to become manageable. Their playing becomes more secure, their confidence grows and gradually they begin to realise that they really can do it.

Seeing that transformation is incredibly rewarding for me as a teacher.

Learn the Violin for the Love of Music

I believe that genuine passion and commitment are powerful parts of learning an instrument.

Adults often choose to learn the violin because they genuinely want to. They practise because they enjoy playing, because they want to improve and because they want to discover what they are capable of achieving.

That motivation is something I value greatly.

As a musician myself, I understand the commitment involved in developing your playing. Progress comes from a combination of good guidance, regular practice, patience and determination.

As your online violin teacher, I can provide the knowledge, structure and encouragement to help you move forward. But it is your own passion and commitment that allow that work to become your progress.

I find it incredibly rewarding to see students gradually develop the confidence to take ownership of their own playing and become increasingly independent as musicians.

Online Violin Lessons for Adult Beginners

You do not need to have any previous musical experience to begin learning the violin.

Starting an instrument as an adult can sometimes feel daunting, particularly when you are surrounded by experienced musicians or students who began when they were children.

There is no reason to compare your progress with anyone else's.

Learning is a personal process, and everyone develops at a different pace. My role is to help you build strong foundations from the beginning, understand what you are doing and gradually become more confident with your instrument.

We will work on the fundamentals of violin playing, including posture, bow control, intonation and tone production, while also developing your ability to read music and play with musical expression.

The aim is not to rush through the early stages, but to develop the skills and understanding that will allow you to continue progressing for years to come.

Online Violin Lessons for Adults Returning to the Violin

Many adults return to the violin after years away.

Perhaps you played as a child, took examinations or played in an orchestra, but eventually stopped. You may remember more than you think, even if your technique feels rusty at first.

Returning to the violin can be a wonderful opportunity to rediscover something you once loved.

Lessons can focus on rebuilding confidence, strengthening technique and helping you reconnect with the instrument. We can identify where you are now and work towards where you would like to be, without feeling that you have to start again from the beginning.

Whether you want to return to playing for your own enjoyment or eventually join an orchestra or ensemble, regular online violin tuition can help you regain your confidence and move forward.

Developing Your Violin Technique and Musical Expression

A strong technical foundation gives you the freedom to express yourself musically.

In online violin lessons, we can work on areas such as tone production, intonation, bow control, posture, phrasing and musical interpretation, depending on your individual needs and experience.

I believe that technique and musicality should develop together.

The aim is not simply to play the correct notes, but to understand how to shape music and communicate something through your playing.

As your confidence grows, you can begin to develop greater independence and make more informed musical decisions for yourself.

Online ABRSM and Trinity Violin Exam Preparation

For adult students who enjoy working towards a clear goal, I also offer online preparation for ABRSM and Trinity violin examinations.

Exam preparation can include technical work, scales and arpeggios, sight-reading, aural skills and the preparation of examination pieces.

Although examinations can provide useful structure and motivation, I believe that the most important outcome is the musical development that takes place along the way.

The goal is not simply to pass an exam, but to become a more confident and capable violinist.

From Online Violin Lessons to Playing With Others

One of the things that makes me particularly proud as a teacher is seeing students reach the point where they feel confident enough to play with other people.

For some students, this may mean joining an orchestra or ensemble. For others, it may simply mean playing alongside friends or other musicians.

I have a great deal of experience of playing with other musicians myself, and I know how rewarding it can be to move beyond practising alone and become part of something larger.

There is a different kind of confidence that comes from sitting amongst other musicians, listening, responding and contributing to the music.

For me, this is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching. Learning the violin can open the door to a much wider musical life, and I love seeing students discover that they are capable of becoming part of it.

Building a Musical Community

My long-term vision for online violin teaching is to create something that goes beyond the individual online lesson.

As the community of students grows, I would love to create opportunities for students to meet one another in person, attend concerts together in London and share their love of music with others.

Over time, I would also love to explore opportunities for students to play together and experience the enjoyment of making music as part of a group.

Online violin lessons may be where the journey begins, but I hope that, over time, they can become part of something much bigger.

Music has the ability to bring people together. It can introduce you to people you might never otherwise have met and create friendships and connections through a shared passion.

I would love to help adult students not only develop as individual musicians, but also discover the wider musical community that exists beyond their own instrument and their own home.

About Your Online Violin Teacher

My approach to teaching is shaped by my own experience as a violinist and by my continued commitment to developing my own playing and musical knowledge.

I studied violin with French violinist and professor Fabienne Fauritte and have continued to pursue my own musical development through ongoing study.

I understand the commitment required to develop as a musician, and I bring that experience into my teaching.

My aim is to help each student develop a secure technical foundation, musical understanding and the confidence to become increasingly independent in their playing.

I believe that a teacher can provide the guidance, knowledge and structure, but ultimately it is the student's own passion and determination that allows them to succeed.
